GARDEN WEDDINGS

ROMNEY MANOR

Romney Manor is 12 acres of tropical gardens located about 6 miles west of Basseterre. Its location, at the edge of the rainforest, accounts for the fertility of the soil that has enabled a variety of tropical fruit trees and flowers to abound. As it is slightly inland at the foothills of the central mountain range, visitors get a lovely view of the Caribbean Sea in the background, and stunningly beautiful sunset pictures.
The grounds of Romney Manor are well-maintained and always full of colour. The centre-piece of the lower level of the garden is a spreading 350-year old Saman tree, in whose shade many a loving couple have exchanged their wedding vows. The middle level is manicured lawn surrounded by orchids and flowering shrubs. An elegant Traveller’s palm provides another favourite backdrop for wedding ceremonies. Still higher up many tropical flowers bloom around a small water fountain and ruins of a sugar estate tower. The total effect is tranquil and magical.
Romney Manor is one of the preferred locations for Kantours Weddings.

BIRD ROCK BEACH HOTEL GARDEN

Tucked away from the general activity of the hotel is a beautiful small garden, perfectly suited for private weddings, well away from curious eyes. The verdant foliage of the trees provide a natural canopy against the sun’s rays, and the bright colours of the flowering shrubs and plants border the area. To the north the sound of the cascading waterfall lends its natural music to the scene.

BEACH WEDDINGS

For many visitors, their mental picture of the Caribbean is of stretches of sandy beach. And many dream of exchanging their vows with the gentle waves of the sea lapping at their ankles. For these clients we recommend one of the beaches situated in the southeast peninsula.
The Peninsula itself is an ecological contrast to the rest of St. Kitts. Its dry rolling hills are sparsely covered with shrubs. Here there are salt ponds and mangrove swamps. The best beaches are located in this area. Suggested beaches include Frigate Bay, North Friar’s Bay, South Friar’s Bay, and Cockleshell Bay.

HISTORICAL FLAIR

BRIMSTONE HILL FORTRESS is ideally suited for those who love history with a touch of 18th century military flair. The fortress, about ten miles from Basseterre, sits atop a hill with a commanding view of the Caribbean Sea on one side, its cannons pointed outwards to protect the island from naval attack and to keep the surrounding waters safe for Britain. Nowadays, it is all peace and quiet and magnificent scenery. On the opposite side, the National Park slopes majestically upwards in various shades of green as the forest thickens towards the mountain top.
The most popular places for the wedding ceremony are the Citadel of Fort George and the Prince of Wales Bastion, although clients can choose anywhere in the very extensive grounds of this fortress, now eleveated to the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Universal Cultural Value.

OTHER LOCATIONS

INDEPENDENCE SQUARE

Located in the heart of downtown Basseterre, Independence Square is an oasis of green in an otherwise busy capital. A poignantly significant location, it marks both the trauma of slavery and the triumph of Independence.

CHURCHES

If you prefer the ultra traditional church wedding, this too is possible. Weddings can be arranged in a Protestant Church. However, special pre-arrangements are required for Anglican or Catholic Weddings.
